Sangria is basically a red wine punch with a Spanish origin. You will find it served through out Mexico and it is a perfect compliment to any of the Mexican food recipes you will find here.

Sangria is a delicious, fun, summertime punch. It is easy to make and even if you don’t care for wine, most people like it’s fruity flavor.

Making Sangria punch can be as individual as you are. Take your favorite red wine, add your favorite fruits, sliced up of course, and add your favorite soda or bubbly water. You can’t go wrong. Make sure it is well chilled before serving.

Red Sangria With Oranges and Apples

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium apple, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1 medium orange, sliced
  • 1 bottle of quality red wine
  • 1 cup club soda
  • 1/4 cup sugar and an equal amount of water, heated till dissolved in a sauce pan, cooled
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup Cointreau, or any other orange flavored liqueur

Directions:

In a large pitcher add the red wine, orange juice, club soda, sugar, and orange flavored liqueur and stir. Slice the orange into wheels and add the apple chunks and orange slices. Chill at least one hour and serve over ice in individual glasses.

If you are serving this at a party, you can make it self serve by adding some ice cubes to the pitcher to keep it chilled.

Sangria refers to a wine punch based on fruit juices. This recipe offers a low-cal version of this classic beverage that serves 8 and whips up in less than 10 minutes! Try this easy recipe at your next warm weather get-together.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dry, red wine
  • 3 cups low-cal cranberry juice cocktail, refrigerated
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 2 medium apples, cored and chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

In a large pitcher, stir all ingredients together. Allow to stand for 30 minutes before serving.

Place ice in glasses and serve.

Yields about 3/4 cup of sangria per serving.
